Mid week suprise

I find it to be a suprise that I have finished one baby quilt in the middle of the week. I got the little pig quilt done and put aside. It must be the fact that I have this sewing area. The fact that my sewing machine is out in the open every day now. I walked by that quilt on my sewing table wednesday morning while getting ready for work. I thought to myself, "well the binding is all pinned on, all it needs is a quick sew." "I surely can do that before I leave for the office." And I did.

It just felt odd to sew in the middle of the week, and odder yet, I didn't have to pull the sewing machine out of it's bag and all my threads and bobbins. How wonderful to have it all set up and I just sit down by the sewing station and sew. I know I know, not a big deal for most of you. But to me this is the greatest thing that has happen to me in years.
Now it should just take me another quick minute to finish the other baby quilt right? We will have to see about that.

Productive Sunday

Here is how far I got on the new quilt top I started last weekend. All it needs now are the borders and the top is done. It is a pretty interesting quilt, don't you think? It certainly peaks my interest. I started the binding on the baby quilts that I made last weekend, and I got bored fast. So I picked this top up and just kept working on it till supper. I do need to finish the baby quilts though. Afterall they are gifts for someone having her baby soon.
When I think about it, I have too many projects started or in certain stages. How this happened I am not sure. But I am going to finish some of these UFO's that are sitting around here. I can not go out and buy anymore material for anymore projects until I have those in the drawers done. Well, maybe a little shopping, afterall I have to get the material for the border for this quilt and then the backing so I can finish it.
I have just joined the Thimbleberries club at our local quilt shop, we meet once a month and we are doing 2 BOM's and I can't forget the BOM with Judy that I have been working on. We should get our next one the 1st of February. Oh my, I guess my plate is more full than I thought.

My Own Sewing Area!!!!!!

My own little sewing area. Mine, mine, mine and mine. It might not be a big deal to some of you but to me it is a really really big deal. You see we live in a very small house. It is just the right size for the two of us. We don't need anything special or fancy. But when ever I want to sew, I have to pull out my sewing machine and set it up with all of my equipment in the kitchen. It was the only area with room for me and all my stuff. Right there on the kitchen table. So as you can imagine, when it was time for meals, or company comes over, I needed to pack everything up and put it away in the other room.

I didn't really mind. I mean I was used to it. But I always dreamed of someday having a small spot just for me and my sewing machine. Someplace where I could leave my material and supplies out all day and even overnight. Well, now I finally have that. I was able to sell my big oak china hutch and that made some room in the den. I got a new floor lamp, set up a table and Volia!!!!!!!!!!! My sewing area ! ! ! ! !

I was able to accomplish some sewing today as well. I got another row done on my fat quarter quilt, and I have my binding all pinned on the baby quilt so I can finish that. We will see what tomorrow brings, because now all I have to do is roll out of bed and walk into my new sewing area.

End of my quiltathon

Here is two rows done on my quilt project. Three more rows to go, and hopefully I will be able to do some more work on it next weekend.
I was able to tie both baby quilts and they are now ready to have the binding put on. I tried to do one of them free motion and it really looked bad. Took me quite a while to take it all back out, but it is much better with ties. It is time for me to make supper, so I think this is a good time to stop.

I really was hopeing to get more accomplished today than what I did. And if I wasn't making mistakes, I would have these baby quilts done too.
However, the gal who was interested in my china hutch came with her husband and a friend this morning and took it. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! More room in the den now for my sewing table. Just a little one, and a light too. I am going to go shopping next weekend for one.

Quiltathon Part 3

OK, this is what I got accomplished so far.
I started free motion quilting the little pink pig quilt. I have it half done and the thread kept breaking so I thought I better stop before I got angry with it. So I thought I needed a break from it for awile.
Then I worked on the new fat quarters quilt top and began sewing the pieces together in groups. I would say I am half way done with sewing the triangles and now I am taking a break to fix supper.
After supper I have everything I need set up on the couch to start tieing the brown and pink baby quilt. I think I probably will find some nice movie to watch tonight while tieing.
I did get alot accomplished, but I also think I bit off more than I can chew today.
Too many projects, and no way that I can get all three done.

Quiltathon Part 2

Taking a Break!!!!!
I got two baby quilts sandwich and ready to be quilted. One will be free motion quilted, the other I am planning on tieing. And then all the material for my next quilt top is pretty much cut out except for the sashing. I am ironing that material right now. Whew!! And in between had to run to grocery store to get the sick baby some juice. Not bad. Ok Break's over............

Quiltathon weekend

OK it's 8:00am, and I am ready.
I got my material together for a new quilt top.
I have two baby quilts that need to be sandwiched and finished.
So that's the plan for this weekend.
Hubby is down in bed sick with the flu, so that might cause a problem, but I will prevail.
Ready, set, go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 2009

Gosh it feels funny to write 2009. Maybe by mid year I will get it right. I am one of those people that will constandly write the past year on my checks well into the new year. I wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
I am glad the holidays are over, as wonderful as they are, it still is a stressful time, and a relief when over. It is very relaxing when I can just sit and sew. It's like being in my own little world.
Here is a baby quilt that I was able to finish this afternoon. I also got a chance to make another grocery tote and a door draft blocker.

The grocery totes were such a good idea for christmas. My children were so excited to see a bag full of groceries. They each ordered more totes for themselves, so now I will be making more.
It is great having all this time off of work, I have a few more projects I want to work on yet for this long weekend.
