End of May

Here it is, the end of May. Goodness where does time fly. Tomorrow is back to work again.
Today was a productive day. Sweet Treat Bag is the name of this fabulous little bag made from Honey Buns from Moda. This fun and fast bag makes up in minutes. It is the perfect bag for sewing notions, or maybe a cosmetic bag. I think these will make wonderful gifts.

Maybe fill them with some treats from your favorite bath and body store, or perhaps a gift certificate to go shopping to fill with their favorite cosmetics.

This bag was so addicting, I had to make two. After all, when you buy Honey Buns by Moda, they come two to a package.

I found some free time today to get a few quilts sandwiched and ready to be quilted. The one to the left is for my sister in law. Not a real big hurry, it will be a christmas gift. I also sanwiched a quilt I am making for my brother in law, however for some reason it did not show up well on my camera. Oh well, I am sure there will be another post when it is completely done.

This is the wall hanging I am putting together for my daughter's wedding in August. It is sandwiched and ready to be quilted and the binding put on. Thanks to my good girl friend who took time out today to come over and crawl around on the floor with me getting all these quilts ready for the next step. She was truly a big help.
And my sister who lives in Michigan did the embroidery on this wall hanging. Does it not give it that special touch?
I would not have gotten this far on these projects without their help.
Oh and this was the weekend I was to long arm the wedding quilt. Well, let me tell ya, nothing worked out where that was concerned. I get all the way to Green Bay and found out that they sold out of the 108" wide fabric I needed for the backing. So we looked around the shop to try and find something else that we would have to pieced together. We did find one great looking fabric, however there was not enough material on the bolt for what I needed. So I left Green Bay, and the wedding quilt stayed. Jana from My Favorite Quilt Shop will be doing the long arm work as soon as the material for the backing I ordered comes in. It was a let down, but I don't want to try to schedule another day to try again. What if something else goes wrong, We only have 2 1/2 months to go before the big day. Jana does a wonderful job, and it will probably turn out better.

End of a wonderful memorial weekend

What a great four days off of work. And I spendt it babysitting my grand daughters, and then on memorial day the entire family got together for a grill out. The weather was great, so the grand children enjoyed alot of time outside.
Bill is having a great time too. I heard from him yesterday late in the afternoon. It seems there will be plenty of fish coming back home with him.
Made myself a list of things I want to get done before Bill gets home on saturday. So far I am whittling away at it. And of course there is sewing on the list. I want to get everything else out of the way before I get to that.
Over the weekend, I made six more cupcake pin cushions. One for each of my girls, one for me, and two more for my sis. I am planning on mailing them out in todays mail.
Wish I had my camera, Bill took it with him fishing and now I wish I would not have sent it with him.
Now I don't have pictures of saturday with the grand children making tie dyed t-shirts. Or pictures from sunday when we made lady bug cookies. Or even pictures of me and the grand kids playing duck duck goose on memorial day...............
The camera will be home soon, so more pictures to come.

Shower weekend

What a rush of a weekend again!
Must be my life hey?
My youngest daughter who soon will be married had her bridal shower yesterday. The whole day seems like a blur. She had quite alot of guests, and quite alot of gifts. It was very nice to see a whole room full of ladies all there to enjoy my daughter's special day.

This is the soon to be bride, Katie and my grand daughter Emma. Emma will be the miniture bride at the wedding. She enjoyed herself as well at the shower and even managed to snag herself a door prize. (even though Katie still thinks it was a set up)

Now on to the plans for the wedding, less than three months away.

End of a busy weekend

Whew, where did the weekend go.
What a wonderful Mother's Day. It always is a good mother's day for me. I have wonderful daughters that always want to make my day special.
After spending the morning at one daughter's house having my son in law make breakfast, I was surprised by my youngest daughter and her fiance when they arrived to spend the morning with me as well. Our time together went fast, and my grandson's made it special too.

I got my mending done, and I thought I would just dabble around with something. So I went thru my drawers of scraps and started organizeing and an idea came to me.
I made a table runner early this evening out of some scaps that I just didn't want to throw away. Not that big of a deal, but I needed to practice with my free motion quilting and also on my binding work. The quilting went well and I even surprised myself with the results, but my binding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well, practice practice practice.

Oh and I needed to get some salsa made up first. We were all out quite a while ago, and Bill has been after me for more. So I made some late this afternoon from some tomatoes I had in the freezer. 14 pints actually. Finished the last in the hot water bath about 5:30 this afternoon. Just in time to make supper.
I guess it was a very full weekend!

Quiet friday nite

Here it is, the end to another busy week. How I look forward to my weekends. Alas it will be another busy weekend too. Tomorrow is my uncle and aunts birthday party which has been turned into a family reunion. So I plan on going to visit for awile.
Somewhere before or after that party I would like to go and pick up some of my flowers for the garden. And then on sunday morning I am going to visit my grandsons for mother's day. My daughter and her husband have invited me to come and spend some time by their house and my other daughter and soon to be son in law will also join us. Well, ya know, Mother's day is just another day unless you are spending it with your children.

I have gotten pretty far with my sewing room. Still a few touches to go, but for the most part I love it. It feels so cozy.

Bill, bless his heart got talked into helping put some of the decor on the walls. He always jumps in to help without complaining.

Hopefully what will be left of my weekend I can spend doing some sewing. I have a couple of things sitting here in the mending pile that need my attention first. Then I am looking forward to startinga new project.

Productive weekend

Whew! What a weekend! And I still managed to get some sewing done.
My computer is down and in the shop, so no pictures to show for all my hard work.
I enlisted the help of a painter friend to paint the sewing room. It is just beautiful. And now it needs some decorative touches. But I have plenty of time for that.
My big brother Joe came for a visit and was able to help me put a new ceiling light/fan up. It looks wonderful, and the perk was that I got to spend some time with big brother.
Sunday morning my services were needed for babysitting my two grand daughters. So my morning was filled with blowing bubbles and building sand messes. We had fun and when daddy came to pick them up they didn't want to go.
I did get one quilt top done. Something to be set aside for sandwiching and quilting later. It will be a christmas gift for my sister in law. I managed to finish the BOM quilt from Judy's site. I made some changes since I don't know a thing about pieceing fabric. I made the borders wider so that the quilt now measures 100 x 100. Hopefully that will be big enough for the kid's king size bed. I will be long arming it at the end of this month. By then I hope to have my computer back to I can post some pictures.
By sunday afternoon Bill was home from his week of turkey hunting, with nothing to show for it but some dirty laundry. Oh well, it was a relaxing week for both of us.
I would say I had a productive weekend!!!!!!!!!!!
