I am old!!!!

They make me feel old just looking at them, and reminding myself that I am a grandma.

Four grandchildren filled my weekend. My goodnes, how did I ever survive raising three. These four just tuckered me out. I am getting old.
No sewing for me this weekend. other than getting Bill's camo pants sewed for this upcoming weekend. Turkey hunting ya know, important stuff for the men.
Me, I am looking forward to a free weekend, no grandchildren, no kids, and no hubby. Imagine that, a whole weekend to sew and sit around in my jammies. Now doesn't that sound like fun!
I have been busy getting my sewing room, oops...............excuse me, Bill's den, ready for a paint job. Already got a different computer desk and I was able to unload some clutter from the room. Starting the paint job on thursday morning and it should be done by the weekend. I will be sure to post pictures when it is done.

Quilt show excitment

The Chicago International Quilt Show was fantastik. We got off to a bad start, when our bus arrived to take us two hours late. By the time we got to Chicago it was just about noon. But it still was great.
Alot of walking, and alot of things to see.
I am afraid my wallet received some damage. And I was not the only one, right Jan?
But it was worth it.
It was an exausting day with so much to see and look at. And I and my sister came home with our share of packages.
And now it is time to get back to the daily gind, and no more day dreaming about those quilts or what to do with our new stash.......................

Quilt Show in Chicago

I am so looking forward to the Quilt Festival in Rosemont, IL. I have been waiting for quite a long time since I bought the tickets for me and my sister. It whould be a great time and I am sure it will cause great pain to my pocket book. I can certainly use the break.

Still have one last row to sew on the Star BOM quilt, and today the border directions come out.

This is my youngest grandson, Nickolas. He is two years old and he is concentrating on he skills in decorating his easter eggs. He did such a wonderful job!
Made grandma proud!!!!!!!!!!

Truly a Newbie

I truly am a Newbie. I am getting so frustrated with this BOM quilt!!!!! First of all let me tell ya, there really is a difference between good quality material and material you buy at JoAnn's. I went to JoAnn's last year armed with my instructions and fabric requirements with high expectations of making this quilt for my daughter's wedding. Well I tell you what, I am so disapointed and ashamed to give them this quilt. I make mistakes and each time I rip out a seam the material shreds more and more. It is very thin and that makes it harder to line it up because it streches out.

It took me most of Easter sunday to get it this far. Nothing is lineing up. I need to give it up for the day. Three rows are sewed together and the last two rows just don't want to line up.

Sometimes you just gotta stop...................

End of a long weekend

This weekend was very long and very busy.
I spent the weekend in Green Bay with my yougest daughter and her fiance. We did a little shopping and a little gambling at the casino.
One of the main reasons for going to Green Bay was a saturday spent with My Favorit Quilt Shop. Janna, the owner gave me a guilting refresher course.
She helped me make this wall hanging for my daughter. I learned to cut more accuratly, how to make my 1/4" seams and some tips on applique.
I was very pleased with the lesson and wished we had more time together to learn some tips on putting on binding. Oh well there will be more days to get together.
This wall hanging will be my daughter's and fiance's guest book at their wedding in August. Instead of signing a book that will be packed away, the guests will be asked to sign this wall hanging and it will decorate the kid's home for years to come.

And Zoey went with me to Green Bay to visit her buddy Molly. These two seem inseparable. Now that we are home, Zoey has been sleeping most of the day away. I guess she tuckered herself out playing so hard with Molly.
So we both had a great time in Green Bay.
