Sunday afternoon

Not bad for a partial sewing weekend. We had such a lovely time at my daughter's and future son in law's home. We all gathered together for a grill out to meet the future in laws. Very nice in deed.
As for the sewing part of the weekend, here is my scrap star quilt I am making for my oldest daughter. These blocks come from the Thimbleberries quilt club. Once a month we are given a fat quarter which we need to make into a block and bring back each month at the meeting in order to get another fat quarter. These will make a nice queen size quilt at the end of the year. And these are my BOM for the next meeting. We are leaving next week for vacation and will return the night before the next Thimbleberries meeting. So this was a have to get done project for this weekend.

And this is my next set of blocks made from the June fat quarters. They will be added into my quilt also.

I just had to putz. So many projects I have sitting here half done or waiting to be started. So what should I do. I know start another project. LOL

This is a kitty cell phone holder. I found this pattern at the last Quilt Show I went to in Chicago, WI. It is just the cutest thing. I at least got it cut out.

And as long as I was in the cutting mood, I thought I would take my scraps and cut them up. I have a stash of 4" blocks and 2 1/2" strips. My box is not quite full, but my big box of scraps is very very full. So I thought I would start a stash of smaller scraps. It is easier to look at and come up with something to do with them this way. Hopefully I can keep up this way.
Taking a break right now, hubby wants some home made lasagna for supper. Need to get at that.

It's so hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is sooooooooooo hot. My goodness! The weekend was filled with grandchildren who don't seem to notice the heat like us old folks do. I would of preferred to be in a nice air conditioned room just laying around doing nothing. But no, my grandchildren had other ideas. I have to admit their idea of beating the heat was not a bad one at all!

I lucked out and spent this hot hot sunday with all four of them. My goodness, where do they get all their energy from.
So no sewing got done this weekend, and with our vacation comming up soon I better get some things done. The BOM for the Thimbleberries club will need to be done before I leave for vacation. And the wedding quilt is done in Green Bay, so it needs to be picked up and the binding work done on it.
Need to get organized here. It is suppose to be very very hot all week. The weather man is talking in the 90's. Sounds like a good week to stay inside near a fan while I am sewing.

Wall Hanging Done

Here is another baby quilt that I finished tonight.
Nothing spectacular, but it is made up of different fabric blocks to give it that cuddly appeal.
It went together quickly and it was a lesson in machine quilting for me. I don't believe I did that well on this. It's packed aside right now, but maybe it needs to be ripped apart and free motion quilted again.
But the big news for Sunday is....................ta da!!!!!!!!!
The wedding wall hanging is done. Yes it is, and I think I did well with the binding if I do say so myself. Nice mitered corners, nice and smooth.
And I deceided it only needed three hang sleeves.

Here it is hanging on one of my quilt wall racks, but I bought one for Katie to hang it in her home after the wedding. So it is measured for her rack and will stretch out more one it is hung on that rack.
Bill has just reminded me that I need to put a lable on the back, so I guess it really isn't done.
I am pleased with it.

Baby quilt

Today was my youngest granddaughter's birthday. It was such a lovely day for a party. She was very excited with all of her gifts.
Later this afternoon I got a chance to get in my sewing room.
Here is a baby quilt that I was able to finish. I like doing small quilts like this, it gives me a chance to practice my free motion quilting.

Ofcourse all I did was stitch in the ditch. But it turned out nice. I seem to be getting better with my free motion quilting, but my binding still leaves much to be desired.
I have to get this wedding wall hanging done. All it needs is the binding on. So I might as well get to it.

Wall hanging

Today is the day that I have set aside to work on the wallhanging. I did some stitch in the ditch and then had to put it aside to deceide if I want to do more. It is the kid's guest book for their wedding. And I need plenty of room for all the signatures. So I am not sure i want to quilt more on it. Have to think about it. It is hanging here in my sewing room to keep it in my thoughts.

I did finished tieing the two quilts I sandwiched last weekend. And before I packed them aside, I made the bindings for each of them. So when I have a day of binding to do, it will be a snap.

Now I find myself working on a couple of baby quilts that I have material for. I am cutting them out right now, well not right now, it's break time. But I thought I would spend some time cutting them out and then when I have a moment I just need to put the puzzle pieces together.

Little by little I am whitteling away of my sewing to do list. The problem is that I keep buying more material for more projects, so for every thing that I can accomplish on my list, I seem to add another one or two to it. Not getting any place that way!
