Memorial Weekend is Over!!!

What a nice relaxing weekend. Bill came home on saturday as expected and brought home way too much fish. It is a good thing we love to eat fish cause we will be eating lots of fish for the next year.

I manage to finish some projects this weekend. Now I didn't do all of these this weekend, just finished them. I was able to get alot done during the week and a half that bill was gone fishing.
This darling baby girl quilt is a cheater panel, but it gave me practice at free motion quilting. I can never have enough practice.

My grandson Ivan instructed grandma to take this t shirt home and put something on it. I bought this shirt for him to wear with a pair of pj pants I made him. He wanted something on it, so I traced a train from a coloring book complete with the steam to put on this shirt. I will mail it out to him tomorrow and wait to see what he says.

I was able to spend this afternoon putting this wildlife quilt together for my brother in law. I think it is not quite big enough, better add another border before this gets sandwiched and quilted. Pretty easy to put togher when you use a panel that you cut your blocks from.

And I finshed this top this week. Used up blocks I found in a clearance bin at a out of the way quilt shop. I followed a pattern called pineapple squares. You can put a square in a square in a square.....as many times as you want. Just need to sandwich and quilt this up and it is another baby quilt to be added to my stash. You never know when you get invited to a baby shower of someone you knows is expecting.

These are my blocks for the thimbleberries club. Had to make 2 BOM's
I like these!

And my pin wheels from the free fat quarter I get at each club meeting. You would think I would get these pinwheels straight by now. I think I should just give it up and try some other pattern for blocks.

Memorial Weekend

The start of Memorial Weekend is here. As I sit here at my office counting down the hours till the long weekend begins, I am thinking of what I am all going to do.
Bill will be home from his fishing trip tomorrow late in the afternoon, and I am sure he will be tired from his trip and sleep most of the weekend away.
And me, well I guess I could do some sewing, lol.
I have all the grandchildren's pjs done and delievered to them. They were so excited about them and had to try them on right away. I am trying to make time each nite after work to tie one of the quilts I finally got sandwiched. And I also finished the baby genious quilt top and it too is ready to be sandwiched and quilted.
And believe it or not, I still haven't gotten to the BOM for the thimbleberries meeting that needs to be done by June's meeting. Maybe that is going to be my priority this weekend.
Right now, I just need this clock to move faster!

Taking a Break!

My sewing machine is all fixed. All oiled and cleaned and ready to go.
So why am I taking a break???
Cause I can!!!!

My youngest daughter and her husband invited me to visit for the weekend. They did not have a chance to visit for mother's day, so this will be my mother's day with them. Actually, they are taking me gambling. What fun! I am not a gambler by any stretch of the imagination, but once or twice a year it is fun to find the newest nickle machines at the casino and play the afternoon away. Don't spend much that way.

So I am off after work today and will return on sunday. I will think about the sewing machine then. It is still sitting on my desk in the sewing room, not even hooked up. Just sitting there where I put it when I brought it home after being worked on.

I have my work cut out for me cause I have two BOM's now to do. April and May's are sitting waiting for my attention. And I still have a few pj's to finish for the grandchildren.
All in good time...........

Sewing Withdrawals

I am having sewing withdrawals...............sounds funny but you know what I mean.
The sewing machine is in the shop (I knew something was wrong when I sewed my finger) and since I only have one I can't get anything done. It's driving me nuts!
I walk in the sewing room and see all my stash and started projects and there is nothing I can do.

I spent saturday at a women's wellness show, and I ran a table for my sister advertising all of her embroidery items. I did manage to sell some things, but the important thing was I took some orders for her. That always makes it worth while. A nice relaxing day spent with my best friend. She likes to come and spend that day with me at the table shows and we just chat the day away.

Sunday was just such a boring day. I cleaned the house, went for a walk, cut some material out for another project,,,, but still it just didn't feel right. Tonight is my Thimbleberries club meeting and I never got April's BOM done, so nothing to show at the meeting.
Don't I just sound crabby???? It's withdrawal I tell ya!!!!!!!

Ouch!!!!!!!!

Well I have always heard of ladies having this accident, but you never think it will happen to you.

Yes, I did it, got my finger in the way of the sewing needle. Put the needle right thru my index finger on the left hand. Grossed alot of people out at Urgent Care when I walked in to try and find someone to remove it from my finger. What a big commotion these people make.

I had to have 3 x-rays to verify that the needle went thru my bone, and then ofcours a tenust shot of which hurt more than the needle in the finger. But after over an hour of everyone asking me on a scale of 1 to 10 what is the pain...........lol Oh for goodness sake, just pull it out!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like such a klutz! And now I have to take antibotics for the next 5 days. But after they finally were done with me, I went back home and changed needles on my sewing machine and continued where I left off.
